Nuvo-10000GC: High-class platform for AI tasks impresses with modularity and performance

Industrial automation has been undergoing change for some time now. While previous production systems relied on classic PLC and IPC architectures, the era of Industry 5.0 increasingly demands modular, AI-enabled platforms that not only perform control tasks but also enable data-intensive analyses and machine learning. With the Nuvo-10000GC, German distributor Acceed is introducing a new generation of industrial computer systems that meet precisely these requirements for edge AI applications – compact, powerful, expandable and robust.

Traditional 4U industrial PCs have long been the standard solution when it comes to extensive expandability and computing power. The Nuvo-10000GC is set to break this paradigm. With its compact footprint, it replaces bulky rack or wall-mounted systems without compromising on functionality. Up to seven PCIe/PCI expansion slots are available – a remarkable feature in this design. Users can continue to use their existing I/O, communication, image processing or motion control cards, but benefit from a significantly more compact and energy-efficient overall system.

Inside, the latest generation of Intel processors (14th, 13th or 12th generation, depending on the configuration) based on the Alder Lake architecture is at work. The system supports CPUs up to Core i9, which represents a significant performance increase over previous industrial platforms. The Q670 chipset forms the basis for efficient I/O connectivity and fast memory connection, for example via NVMe slots and SSDs, which allow server-level data transfer rates.

The Nuvo-10000GC scores a decisive point with its support for dedicated GPUs with a power consumption of up to 115 W, all in a fanless chassis. The sophisticated thermal design with direct heat dissipation via solid cooling fins and heat conductors combines silent operation with higher reliability and robustness.

GPU integration enables AI-based image processing, deep learning inference and predictive maintenance algorithms directly in the field, without relying on cloud infrastructure. This not only saves bandwidth and latency, but also improves operational reliability, as critical analyses can be performed locally and in real time. This positions the Nuvo-10000GC as an edge AI platform for applications such as visual inspection, autonomous mobile robots, and industrial IoT gateways.

In addition to computing power, industrial robustness plays a central role. The Nuvo-10000GC complies with the EN 50155 (shock and vibration resistance for railway and vehicle technology) and EN 45545-2 (fire protection requirements) standards, making it suitable for use in safety-critical environments. This is complemented by nine Gigabit Ethernet ports via M12X sockets, which ensure stable, vibration-proof network connections, an important detail for vehicle-based systems or conveyor technology, for example.

Compared to conventional 4U industrial computers, the Nuvo-10000GC takes up significantly less space when installed, without compromising on expandability. Operators benefit from lower system complexity, higher reliability thanks to fanless design, and reduced maintenance intervals. Particularly in the context of edge AI applications and machine image processing, existing systems can be significantly accelerated through the direct use of GPU computing power on site, ideally leading to shorter production throughput times and lower error rates.

All variants and configurations of the new Nuvo-10000GC are available from specialist distributor Acceed (www.acceed.com). With technical expertise in industrial data communication, embedded computing and machine vision, Acceed supports its customers from product selection and system integration to preconfigured delivery – even for complex projects with high requirements for robustness, long-term availability and customer-specific customisation.
