Nuvo-11000: The new IPC class for automation and AI

With the growing demand for networked production, real-time data processing and decentralised intelligence in industrial environments, the requirements for embedded computers have changed significantly in recent years. Today, it is not just computing power that counts – energy efficiency, communication diversity and the ability to integrate into AI-supported processes are also key factors. The new Nuvo-11000 IPC series addresses precisely these requirements, positioning itself as a robust and scalable platform for industrial edge computing applications. All variants of the new series are now available with individual configurations from the German distributor Acceed.

The new Nuvo-11000 series of IPCs represents more than just a simple leap in performance. These fanless high-performance computers are designed for industrial applications involving AI-supported automation and data-centred real-time processing, which require high computing power as well as extensive I/O functionality and inference capabilities. Powered by Intel's Ultra-200 processors with up to 24 cores and integrated NPU, the Nuvo-11000 represents a technological shift. Noteworthy features include high I/O density, expandability via PCIe and MezIO modules, and optimisation for high-speed data processing. In addition to a 20% increase in CPU performance with this generation, the processors enable dedicated processing of AI workloads with up to 36 TOPs of computing power thanks to the integrated NPU (Neural Processing Unit). This allows modern machine learning models to be used directly in edge computing, for example in visual inspection, predictive maintenance or autonomous control systems.

With up to five 2.5 GbE ports, one 1 GbE port and optional 10 GbE connectivity, the series meets the requirements of bandwidth-intensive applications such as multi-camera systems, industrial image processing or distributed control networks. Optional PoE+ support enables direct power supply to IP cameras or sensors – a clear cost advantage for system integration.

The fifth-generation M.2 socket supports NVMe SSDs with transfer rates of up to 11,000 MB/s – a decisive factor for applications with high data throughput. Additional functions such as fieldbus modules, COM interfaces, digital I/Os or FPGA-based extensions can be implemented via the modular expansion cassette, Mini-PCIe and the proprietary MezIO interface. This facilitates customer-specific customisation without compromising on robustness.

Despite the increased performance, energy consumption remains low. The Ultra-200 processors require up to 20% less energy than the previous generation with the same TDP. In conjunction with the proven passive cooling concept, the Nuvo-11000 operates at ambient temperatures from -25 to +70°C, making it suitable for use in harsh environments or in control cabinets without active air conditioning.

The Nuvo-11000 and its variants are mature embedded IPCs for demanding industrial applications that require both classic control logic and modern AI inference directly at the machine. The combination of high I/O density, AI acceleration and robust design in particular makes the system a future-proof platform – also with regard to the digitalisation and automation of production environments.

With technical expertise in industrial data communication, embedded computing and machine vision, Acceed supports its customers from product selection and system integration to preconfigured delivery – even for complex projects with high requirements for robustness, long-term availability and customer-specific adaptations.
