Artila Matrix-713: Serial Ethernet Industrial IoT Gateway with LTE (4G), WLAN and Gbit-LAN

Connect your serial and individual wireless networks with the Embedded PC Matrix-713 from Artila as Industrial-IoT-Gateway, expandable by mPCIe-cards.

The industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) relies on the greatest possible variety and flexibility of communication channels. Gateways, which are used as intermediaries between sensors or actuators and the network, play a central role. As an intelligent IoT gateway, Artila's new Matrix-713 industrial box PC offers the possibility of using Mini PCIe cards as individual communication modules. The permanently installed Ethernet interfaces (of which 1x Gigabit) are thus extended by the important wireless communication paths of the 4G and 3G mobile radio standards and WLAN (802.11 b/g/n). Two CAN bus interfaces support the widespread industry standard.

The Matrix-713 industrial box PC is ideally suited for the remote management of modules such as sensors and actuators in factory automation, building and vehicle networking or logistics applications. Low energy consumption and a wide range of communication options (LAN, WLAN, LTE, UMTS) offer maximum flexibility in use. The device can be equipped with the desired communication interfaces via the two Mini PCIe slots - in addition to the two independent permanently installed LAN connections (1 x Gigabit and 10/100 Mbit each). In addition to the four RS-485 interfaces (one of which is also RS-422), the Matrix-713 has two isolated digital inputs and outputs each, which can be used for monitoring tasks and alarm signals, as well as two USB interfaces and a console connection.

The heart of the hardware is the Cortex A5 CPU (535 MHz). The RAM available is 512 MB LPDDR-2 memory, supplemented by 8 GB eMMC Flash and 8 MB DataFlash as a backup file system for quick and easy updates and system recovery. A MicroSD slot supports SDHC cards up to 128 GB.

The basic equipment includes the reliable Linux 4.9 operating system with pre-installed file system and a bundle of software utilities such as web server, PHP server, Python, Perl, MySQL and SQLite. Node-RED is also supported; Snippets can be downloaded free of charge from the distributor Acceed.

The robust housing with the dimensions 165 × 35 × 120 mm is completely made of metal and has two side mounting eyes. The supply voltage ranges from 9 to 60 V DC, the power consumption of the Matrix-713 is very low with only 600 mA (at 12 V). Operation is permitted in the extended temperature range from -20 to +80 °C. The power consumption of the Matrix-713 is very low with only 600 mA (at 12 V).
